In January 1991, Veronica L. Ransom had a vision for a new chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in the Atlanta area and provided the leadership to make it a reality.

May 18, 1991 marked the establishment of  "The Ivy Twines Interest Group". The group identified the South Fulton County area for the establishment of a chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and concentrated its efforts on the reactivation of Alpha Kappa Alpha women.

Having met all requirements beyond expectation, The Ivy Twines Interest Group was chartered as TAU EPSILON OMEGA CHAPTER of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on November 16, 1991. Twenty-three multi-talented Alpha Kappa Alpha women of diverse backgrounds and interests found a common desire and willingness to work together in a chapter "large enough to serve, but small enough to care" and became charter members. Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter became the seventh graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in metropolitan Atlanta.
